Hello all,

First and foremost, I just want to thank you all for the wonderful support and comments I’ve gotten on my recent outfit post. It’s one of my favorites and from the looks of it, you all love it as much as I do.

I’ve been wanting to incorporate a specific day where I blog my tips and tricks on fashion, style, and/ or beauty products. So here we go- my first official Beauty+Tip Tuesday post.

This winter, Chicago hasn’t been the only one who was hit brutally with the cold. Luckily, we’re more than half way done with winter! Because this winter has been really harsh, maintaining my skin and hair alive has been my number one priority. I used to believe that beauty products were a waste of money but I was really wrong! Based on previous winters, I can honestly say that my skin and hair were unhealthy compared to this year. This is due to my interest in wanting to keep myself looking in good conditions. Most importantly, I wanted to protect my skin and hair from wrinkles and whatnot.

For my face, I have been using GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment. GlamGlow describes its products with the following benefits:

  • Glycolic – Helps Restore Photo Damaged Skin & Improves Skin Texture.
  • Salicylic – Helps De-clog to Minimize Pores & New Skin Rejuvenation.
  • Lactic – Helps Pigmentation, Moisture, Stimulation & Skin Collagen.
  • Mandelic – Helps Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Aging Skin & Skin Elasticity.
  • Pyruvic – Helps the Effects of Scaring & Clearer Skin.
  • Azelaic – Helps Fight Follicle Bacteria & Breakouts.

This is a great mask for all year-round but even more so during the winter as it provides moisturizing benefits. With its moisturizing ingredient, it prevents your skin from drying out while most masks tend to lack that benefit.

During the previous winters, my biggest problem was my chapped lips. For the majority part, I would use Carmex. However, I would always find my lips worse if I didn’t use their product for a day or so. Currently, I’m using Bite Beauty Fruit Scrub. As mentioned on Sephora’s page, it is “made from antioxidant Resveratrol, fruit acids rich in vitamin C and rice bran; the Fruit Scrub exfoliates and helps to brighten lips over time while fighting free radicals and conditioning around the lip line.” Not only does it exfoliate and brightens your lips, it smells and tastes good! Your significant other doesn’t have an excuse not to kiss you anymore 😉

My hair is what many like to call it my mane. It’s thick and always has a mind of its own. To prevent it from getting dry and brittle, I like to use It’s A 10 Miracle Hair Mask. Now this mask has definitely done wonders for my hair. My stylist saw how dried out my hair got due to the cold + heating products and recommended it to me. It’s a 10 describes their hair mask as a “treatment made to enhance softness and smoothens… [and] delivers unparalleled results for dry, damaged or over-processed hair.” A little goes a long way as I use my hair mask once a week to maintain its shine and softness.

Do you have any winter beauty tips to preserve your skin and hair at a healthy level? Share your thoughts!
